Days Out in Worcestershire
We have lived in the Worcestershire countryside all of our lives
and have visited so many wonderful places, we wanted to share some of the best days out in Worcestershire with you too so we’ve added some of our faves with an approximate idea of how long it’ll take you to get there. Some are seasonal events, which we’ve mentioned next to that event if it applies!
We strongly suggest contacting the place you hope to visit before travelling as some will have less facilities during certain times of the year, or may be subject to weather conditions being suitable to open.
Avoncroft Museum (approx. 30 minutes)
Avoncroft Museum of Historic Buildings is an open-air museum of rescued buildings which have been relocated to its site in Stoke Heath, a district of Bromsgrove, Worcestershire, England.
Brockhampton Estate Herefordshire (approx 20 minutes)
The Brockhampton Estate is a farmed estate in Herefordshire, England, which is owned by the National Trust. The Brockhampton Estate is right on the edge of Bringsty Common and there are some great walks all around that area, with a fabulous pub close by – The Live & Let Live, Bringsty
Bewdley Festival (October) (approx. 25 minutes)
A full week of History, The Arts and Performance. A great time to visit Bewdley which sits on the river and has many places to eat and drink and take in the views and activities on the River

Worcester City
Worcester is by the River Severn and hosts a medieval cathedral, which has been in existence since 1084 and is the final resting place of King John. It is also the home of Worcestershire County Cricket Club the winners of the 2018 T20.

Witley Court
Witley Court was once of the great country houses of England, reaching its peak in the Victorian period when it was the setting for extravagant parties and royal entertainments. After a devastating fire in 1937, however, it became one of the country’s most spectacular ruins. Although the west side was unaffected, the then owner, Sir Herbert Smith, decided not to rebuild but to put the estate up for sale. Witley was never lived in again and was subsequently stripped and abandoned.
For nearly two centuries Witley was closely associated with the Foley family, whose fortunes were at first based on the iron industry. When Thomas Foley bought the Witley estate in 1655, Witley Court was a substantial Jacobean mansion, which had developed in turn from a medieval manor house.

The 105 square km stretch of hills encompasses parts of Herefordshire, Worcestershire and Gloucestershire and is protected for its natural beauty and excessive biodiversity. Thanks to a huge range of habitats, the hills are home to many different species of flora and fauna and they provide a popular walking destination for visitors of all levels and abilities.

It is the home of the famous Broadway Tower a unique Capability Brown Folly Tower. The tower is 65 ft high and 1024 ft (312m) above sea level and is the 2nd highest point on the Cotswolds escarpment. It has outstanding views with an expanse of a 62 mile radius and as many as 16 counties. Conveniently located on the Cotswold Way Broadway Tower is the perfect place to start your walk.
